Hey guys! Today I’m going to be sharing what I read in August 2018. August was an okay reading month for me. I ended up reading 9 books, which is good, but I wanted to read more. School is starting up pretty soon so I’m not sure if I’m going to be able to keep up with how I’ve been reading.
I’ll be talking about my thoughts more in-depth in my ‘classics TBR update’ for books that have ‘Classics TBR Update’ in parentheses.
Anywho, without further ado (that rhymed!), let’s get into the books I read this month!
1. Through the Dark by Alexandra Bracken
3/5 stars. This is a novella bind up containing three novellas. It was okay for me. I found that I wasn’t interested in the stories. I loved the original trilogy, but this wasn’t for me despite that.
2. The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald Classics TBR Update)
3.5/5 stars. I liked this! This is not what I normally read, and it was a little confusing at first, but after a while I finally understood.
3. Legendary by Stephanie Garber
5/5 stars. I shared my thoughts on this book and ‘Caraval’ in another blog post, so if you’re interested click the link below!
4. Animal Farm by George Orwell (Classics TBR Update)
3.5/5 stars. I thought this was going to be a horror book, which is why I’ve put it off for so long, but it ended up being a really profound book.
5. Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury (Classics TBR Update)
3.5/5 stars. This was also a very interesting book. Nothing really shocked me. It just shows a world where books are burned, which I’m not sure I’d be able to survive in.
6. Twice Dead by Caitlin Seal
2/5 stars. Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for sending me an ARC in exchange for an honest review! I, unfortunately, did not enjoy this book. It was very boring and the characters were not developed at all. The synopsis intrigued me, but sad to say the book let me down. It also seems like it’s meant for younger readers.
7. Amy and Roger’s Epic Detour
4.5/5 stars. This is definitely my favorite Morgan Matson book. I enjoyed the relationship between Amy and Roger, and even the other characters they met along the way added something to the story. Overall, highly recommend!
8. I Do Not Trust You
3.5/5 stars. Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for sending me an ARC in exchange for an honest review! I’m participating in the blog tour for this book, so if you like adventure books where you learn a lot stay tuned for that!
9. They Both Die at the End by Adam Silvera
3.75/5 stars. FINALLY. I liked this book, just not as much as I was hoping. The middle was kinda meh, but the ending was so sad. I cried throughout the last fifty pages. I’m hoping to finish his two other books next month (September) before the release of What If It’s Us by him and Becky Albertalli.
And that’s what I read this month! I was hoping to get to a few more classics, but overall I did okay. We’ll see how September goes.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read my blog post! Please leave a comment so I can show my appreciation! Hope you have/had a good day!
