Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for sending me an ARC in exchange for an honest review!
Rating: 3.5/5 stars.
Before I jump into the review, I want everyone to know that this happens after the events of The Star Touched Queen and A Crown Of Wishes. This review doesn’t contain spoilers, but you can’t exactly read this by itself.
Let me start this off by saying I love Roshani Chokshi. Her books are the first I’ve read that contain Indian mythology.
I really enjoyed The Star Touched Queen, but I didn’t love A Crown Of Wishes (see my Goodreads review for more details). So, I had no expectations going into the book. I tried to keep an open mind, not letting my dislike for the second book affect me while reading this novella.
The first story was my favorite out of all of them. Roshani’s writing is lyrical and magical, and it went really well with the story. The second one, unfortunately, I did not like. I almost DNF’ed it, but in the end, it picked up a little and I was able to finish the story. I appreciate the LGBTQ presence, but I felt as if there was no chemistry. The third story was told in a different manner, and despite not liking Vikram and Gauri in A Crown Of Wishes, I ended up enjoying the story.
Overall, if you really enjoyed the first two books, the novella might be for you.
